I think Trump is probably thinking that if he fires a bunch of people all at once then firing Mueller will get lost in the crowd and he’ll get away with it. I think he’s that dumb and that criminally-minded.

It all reminds me and no doubt one or two (million) others of the Watergate scandal. One cartoon of the time had President Nixon clutching a tuft of grass with one hand while drawing a series of lines on the ground: with the rest of Nixon already dangling over the cliff and Federal Judge John Sirica steadily advancing towards said Nixon.
Nixon is yelling “not one step closer…”; another line drawn; “not one step closer…”;
