Even on the rare occasions when it could be argued that Trumpo is appearing to be allegedly frank and honest, there has to be a catch to it somewhere.

When you are dealing with a foreign government ask: Is is safe for a resident of that country to publicly state that the leader is an incompetent ass or that the leading political or religious ideology is a load of BS?
If the answer is no then that government is a bunch of thugs who can’t be trusted to keep their agreements.
Trump wants it to be unsafe to do that in the US which is why he like dealing with such thugs.
Quite a lot of people want it to be unsafe to do that in the US. I was brought up in a family that thought protestors were un-American, that suffragettes (by the time I was a kid, Woman’s Libbers) were un-American, and that college professors should be fired/shot/nuked in that order, or some other. The funny thing is, they think protestors are extremely American when there is a Clinton or an Obama in the White House and the protestors are wearing tea bags and tri-corner hats and shouting about state’s rights, etc. But mostly, protest by those who look different or sound different or think different is un-American and deserves the death penalty.
