Yew shud be aschamed

Aren’t we cranky today.

There’s nothing quite like the irony of watching Donald Trump shaking his finger at Jim Acosta while saying “You are a rude, terrible person” while Acosta is in fact being perfectly polite.

It’s just that ‘rude’, ‘terrible’, and possibly ‘person’ are relative terms. Nothing to see here.

The only absolute term is ‘Trump’. Once you are trumped, you’re trumped.

    And Trump has been trumped.

The result hands Democrats powers to block Trump’s legislative agenda, for example his wall on the Mexican border, and to seek his long-concealed tax returns, investigate possible conflicts of interest in his business empire and dig into any evidence of collusion between him and Russia in the 2016 election. They can demand documents and issue subpoenas if needed.

At a combative, rambling and often wild press conference on Wednesday, Trump offered an olive branch for “a beautiful bipartisan-type situation” but also issued a warning. “Now we have a much easier path because the Democrats will come to us with a plan for infrastructure, a plan for health care, a plan for whatever they’re looking at, and we’ll negotiate,” he said.

Nixon could have whistled in the dark along much the same lines at the start of the Watergate investigation.

I really feel sorry for that poor woman who has to try to take the mic away. I can imagine what her twitter feed looks like today.

it’s clear that Trump is acting like a wounded, cornered animal and I feel I ought to take some pleasure in that, but I just can’t. My disgust overwhelms my happy thoughts of him falling apart for all the world to see. It’s frustrating.

This another one of Trump’s statements that becomes true as soon as you apply it to him. “You’re a terrible person and the USA should be ashamed to have you working for them”

Catwhisperer, that is because Trump is a narcissist, and with narcissists it is all projection. He is incapable of imagining that other people do not think the way he does (for certain values of ‘think’), so he accuses anyone he perceives as an enemy of trying to do exactly what he would be doing in their shoes.
