He’s been working very hard today. Coal mining is a walk on the beach in comparison.

I haven’t read it! I never read anything! Reading is hard, and it’s boring! But this book is a great read, because they said so on the tube [makes rectangle gesture].

    My husband and I just came back from buying a car. While we were waiting for the test drive, the damn TV was turned to Fox News. I heard a lot of nonsense, especially that last. More people are going to drive! Yay! Trump did that! Yay!

    Earth to Trump: That is not good news. That is terrible news. That is fucking the nation and the world and everything that lives in it (including humans, including Americans, and eventually, when things get bad enough, including Trumps).

    Somebody please, take this man’s phone away. I won’t say smart phone, because if it were truly a smart phone, it would refuse to turn on when he came near.

    My understanding is that it is the improvement in fracking technology over the last decade or so that has increased the oil supply & so cut the price. Nothing to do with Saudi Arabia.

    To the extent that electric vehicles live up to the hype, that will cut demand for oil & so cut the price.

    Just out of interest, has the price of gasoline significantly* gone down at the pumps yet, or is it just more profit for the oil and gasoline companies?

    * in relation to the 33% (give or take a percentage point) reduction in the price of crude oil.

    It’s important to understand the processes at work because of the amount of ice that glaciers like Totten holds. And while nobody is talking about a quick meltdown scenario, people in low-lying areas, like Florida and Bangladesh, need to know if the ocean is going to rise several feet this century.

    Cold air coming out at one location can indicate warm air going in elsewhere. But then again, future golfers at Mar-a-Largo will know who to curse if they have to don Wellington boots or waders to make it round the course.

    AoS, I think that “many cases overturned” is a reference to the 9th Circuit’s reputation as the circuit court that gets reversed most often by the Supreme Court.

    My recollection is that statistically that hasn’t been true in recent years. (And of course, being reversed by the Supreme Court is not necessarily a sign of being “wrong” or “biased” unless one is claiming that the present SCOTUS is perfect.)

    Screechy, I read it as the 9th overturning so many of Trumps stupid orders.

    Then again, who the Hell knows what Trump means most of the time. Deliberate ambiguity and plausible deniability are old bedfellows.
