An invisible 10-foot wall

Headlines can be funny. Headline in the Post:

Trump claims there’s a 10-foot wall around the Obamas’ D.C. home. Neighbors say there’s not.

Immediately below the headline there’s a photo of the house which clearly shows there’s no 10-foot wall around it. The “Neighbors say” is otiose when we can see for ourselves that there’s not.

Anyway.

In one of his most recent arguments for a southern border wall, President Trump on Sunday falsely claimed that the Washington home of former president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama is surrounded by a 10-foot wall.

Damn, talk about other minds. Dude, the house exists and people can see it! We can all see your big dumb stupid lie!

He might as well say the Capitol is painted orange or the Washington monument has sprouted wings.

Some found the president’s tweet irresponsible. Fred Guttenberg, the father of one of students killed in the Parkland school shooting, tweeted, “Are you seriously trying to put our former President at risk?”

The Secret Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Trump’s tweet and security risks Monday morning.

A spokesman for the Obamas declined to comment on Trump’s tweet, and the White House did not respond to an email requesting more context on Trump’s claim that there is a wall around the property.

“More context” – what other context could there be? “Trump makes shit up” is merely what we already know.

Another day; another dollop from Trump. This is getting monotonous.

Trump is convinced there’s an invisible wall around Obama’s house? So…now we just need to convince him there’s an invisible wall at the border.

Why is this not 25th Amendment material? Imagining a wall that isn’t there is pretty high up on the delusionary scale. At least ten feet high I’d say.

Is he imagining it? Or just lying because he doesn’t care? I think the latter. I have a brother who does that, lies about easily checked things and just doesn’t care. I think it just doesn’t matter to him at all what is true and what isn’t, because he believes he knows things, and truth simply doesn’t enter into the equation.

The real wall is in our hearts.

You’re taking Trump literally but not seriously.

You libtards don’t understand that Americans want a metaphorical wall, meaning a secure border. The literal wall is just a symbol of that. Except when Trump is shutting down the government because he can’t get funding for the literal wall, in which case Democrats are LITERALLY MURDERING PEOPLE by failing to fund the wall. Except when Trump eventually backs down and cuts a deal that provides only the thinnest of veneers of “wall funding” for him to hide behind, in which case the wall (sorry, just “wall”) was all metaphorical after all, you silly liberal.

In other words, Wall means exactly what Trump wants it to mean. The only question is which is to be the master, Trump or the English language, and nobody elected the English language president.

Fucking journalists. Headline should read “Trump lies about 10-foot wall supposedly around Obama’s D.C. Home“.

That isn’t lacking balance, it’s just plain old fact-checked reporting of reality. Cowards.
