The McKinnon veto

Yesterday this happened:

That’s so McKinnon, isn’t it. “Talk to ME and not to anyone who fails to agree with ME and endorse what I say.”

But it’s sad to say it’s also so BBC…but it is. For years they talked to the Muslim Council of Britain but not anyone who disagreed with them. For years they talked as if the MCB represented all Muslims including secular liberal ones. For years they took one highly coercive illiberal side and stuck to it like grim death.

But in defiance of their own explicit written policy, McKinnon was allowed to veto Fair Play for Women and be the only person interviewed. What a joke.

It’s almost as if women are a despised and subordinated caste.

Do I detect someone exercising their white-male privilege to silence women?

    “I am a biological woman.”

So the word “biological” has now been appropriated? How does McKinnon’s trans womanhood square with being a biological woman? I thought “identification” was evrything and biology or anatomy was irrelevent. The conflation of “sex” with “gender” is one thing, but if McKinnon was “biologically” a woman, why would there be any need for hormone treatments? How many different contradictory arguments do trans activists get to deploy?

    As many as they want.

Biological female, huh? I take it that McKinnon will never need a prostate exam, or will magically wish away prostate problems with those magic trans words “I’m a woman”.

One reads about the pledge flap in West Virginia in the previous post, then one reads about the de-platform flap here, and one realizes one is in a slowly-closing vice–to the left of one, to the right–and one wonders if there’s any escape..

“Would you expect a black person to actively ‘debate’ a KKK member on civil rights?”

The KKK disputes giving fundamental rights like voting and representation to black people, or even their right to be alive. McKinnon and ‘terfs’ are arguing over whether sports segregation by sex should apply to trans people. Note that the debate is not about whether Trans people get to participate in sports at all, as McKinnon likes to pretend, but rather whether they get to swap leagues to one where they have an advantage.

    “I am a biological woman.”

McKinnon, an alleged philosopher, takes a very idiosyncratic approach to the meanings of words, apparently unaware that this means she is claiming to be a cis woman.

“Asking me to debate transphobic organisations like FairPlayForWomen is like asking an astronaut to ‘debate’ flat-earthers.”

So now McKinnon is claiming intellectual superiority over her debate opponents, in addition to the earlier martyr complex.

And, astronauts are routinely engaged in science communication, including on the topic of round/flat earth.

I once read the explanation that since a trans women is a real woman, and always has been a real women, then obviously being that way is a result of her biological makeup, so therefore she is a biological woman.

(I’m pretty sure that was a real explanation and not something from a parody account, but who knows anymore.)

“Biologically male/female” has no meaning any longer sinse being appropriated by trans activists. It used to refer to your chromosomes and the traits that resulted from them. Now, as I’ve had it explained to me, it means you’re biological (consisting of living tissue, I guess) and a woman (even if only by self-identification.)

That’s not what it means but whatevs.

I miss the days when sex was accepted as a legitimate thing sometimes distinct from gender and suggesting as much wasn’t called “transphobia”.

Holms, #6: ‘McKinnon, an alleged philosopher, takes a very idiosyncratic approach to the meanings of words,

It sounds as though McKinnon is a follower of the post-modernist/deconstructionist idea that there are no absolute facts, truth is subjective, and we choose our own realities (a simplified view, but not an inaccurate one as far as I understand the concept). You are what you believe you are, things only exist if you accept their existence, and so on.

So maybe tomorrow McKinnon will decide that her window is a door, and she’ll exit from the top of the house, breaking her leg for the sake of no subjective reality. Or maybe she’ll decide that arsenic is no more harmful than water. Or…

Funny how this “no subjective realities” falls apart when certain realities come to call.

Damn. I said no subjective realities. I need to go sit in the corner until I learn to get words straight. Bye, all.

Nogbert, McKinnon, despite being a phiosopher, only half-understands the post-modern philosophies (metabollocks, as I prefer to call them), or at least only half-applies them. The doc has fully embraced the idea that one is free to create one’s own reality but falls flat when insisting that the rest of the world accepts that reality as fact rather than one individual’s personal perception of reality.

    Cherry-picking philosophies; who’da thunk it!

I don’t believe that he believes a word of any of it. MacKinnon knows perfectly well that he is spouting bollocks.

He is using his education in philosophy to play rhetorical tricks on the gullible. And he knows he’ll get away with it–the moment anyone challenges him all he has to do is cry “Bigotry! KKK! Suicide!”

    Transwomen ARE women; just as

    Transplants ARE plants

    Transports ARE ports

    Transporters ARE porters

    Transfuses ARE fuses

    Tranships ARE hips

    Transactions ARE actions

    Transposes ARE poses

    Transformations ARE formations

    Transpositions ARE positions

And logistics companies like Translink, Transas Marine, Ox-trans, Transdev and Stoptrans ARE transphobic!

    Protrans isn’t, though.

  16. iknklast Avatar

So, tiggerthewing, does that mean transistors ARE sisters?
