Sainte-Mère-Église? Who fed him that factoid?
One of the more disastrous botched parachute drops. The Americans landed during a fire, so all the Germans were already on alert. They came down into direct fire. The image was dramatized in the movie ‘The Longest Day,’ implying that the whole unit was massacred. I saw elsewhere that about 17 men were killed.
Its the kind of detail that Cheeto wouldn’t remember, even if coached. I Barr remembering the movie, or did some hireling look it up for him.
