    Also, a brass tax is one of the least progressive taxes.

    It hits marching bands especially hard.

    I’ve done worse on this site… Just looks like autocorrect fucking up.

    BKiSA, I once received a message from a friend that was sent on her phone; she mentioned Ionesco. Her phone corrected it in such a way I had no idea what she wanted – ions? Ion e s Co? What the hell? Oh, wait, I bid on that Ionesco chair, and she’s letting me know I won…(a chair with a rhinoceros horn sticking out of the seat is the perfect absurdist chair – one you can’t sit on).

    I hate auto correct.

    Also, a brass tax is one of the least progressive taxes.

    Historically, the the brass tax was preceded by the stone tax and followed by the iron tax. The steam tax was notoriously hard to collect, as people would claim (after condensation), that it was “just water.” Today, defaulting on the information tax results in agents coming round to remove selected characters from your keyboard or touchscreen, or, if you don’t have a computer, hitting you in the head with a large book until you forget just the officially assessed amount of knowledge.

    All of them? Smallpox, rubella, polio, whooping cough, whatever has been tested over decades?

    Maybe I don’t understand the question.

    Maddod1129, I think Shoenecker must have claimed that he is “NOT antivaccine”,* and Gorski is challenging him.

    * It’s a common claim among antivaxxers. “I’m not antivaccine! I’m just [asking questions/being objective/skeptical/etc. etc.]”
