    That’s real pretty. Sometimes I wish I lived in such latitudes, but then I remember they are absurdly cold.

    We sometimes see them here in northwest Washington state. I once spent an enjoyable evening down at Taylor Dock watching the glowing sheets slowly roll and flow. Mesmerizing.

    We occasionally get auroras as far south as Trondheim, but the most spectacular ones I have seen were in the north of Norway while I was in the army and we were having these military exercises out in nature. In the middle of winter and the middle of the Polar Night with clear skies and no light pollution it’s an incredible sight. Of course being cold, exhausted and sleep-deprived put a bit of a damper on the experience…
