Fair to ask

Ash Sarkar is also furious.

Not comparable. Race is not basic to sex. Sex, on the other hand, is basic to sex. What sex you are and what sex the other is are basic to whether both of you want to have sex or not. What sex you are is basic to sexual attraction. Race is beside the point.

In ordinary life I’m sure Sarkar knows this, but she’s pretending not to so that she can crap on the LGB Alliance, because that’s the done thing.

Good for him for saying “sleep with” rather than “date”. The former euphemism is much clearer than the latter.

People don’t announce every five minutes that they wouldn’t have sex with trans people. Lesbians face public and private pressure to have sex with trans-identified men, and they are reiterating their boundaries. Without the pressure, there would be little need to say anything. It’s no different from straight men demanding sex and lesbians having to reiterate the very same boundaries.

, but she’s pretending not to

You sure it’s a she? It’s hard to tell from the tiny photograph, but the head-tilt makes me think TiM.

“Announcing every five minutes” fuck off, Ash.

Yes I’m sure, Ash is a woman. Among other things she’s the random opinionator woman who was included in a documentary on the rise of Nazism alongside actual historians, to much surprise and ridicule. That’s not actually her fault because it wasn’t her bright idea, but it’s certainly memorable. I wrote a post about it here some months ago.

I wonder why she does the head tilt.

Ah, so I inadvertently “misgendered” her. Funny how nobody gets angry unless it’s a trans-identified person who gets “misgendered”.

I’ll get angry if it would make you feel better, Sackbut.

Here I’ll just post a scowly emoji and that should take care of it.

I remember, still, my first “Peak Trans” moment, when I asked my then-partner if a lesbian declining to have sex with a trans woman was “transphobic”. She thought about it for a second and then answered in the affirmative. I clearly remember my swirling questions coalescing into an instinctive moral rejection of the notion. It simply cannot be the case that a homosexual person is committing a grievous harm on a class of people by following their own sexual preferences.

    Thanks, laughing out loud. :-)

Seth: no person or even class of people can demand sex. Sure, racism is bad, but I would argue allowing some Woke Warrior to police or even question sexual preferences is bad also. They have no right to dictate our preferences…or lack thereof. The thought policing is becoming as bad as any fundie church. It is not a crime…yet…to have Bad Thought.

Or to have Good Thought which is perceived as Bad Thought by those who don’t think.
