The shrill voices

My god, this guy!

Shrill. You couldn’t make it up.

Oh sir, please sir, sorry sir, we’re sorry our shrill squeaking voices hurt your ears, but you see sir, we’re made that way sir, we have higher voices than you strong wise large better people do, which is why we have such a struggle to get people like you to listen to us, and why we don’t want to share all of our spaces and prizes and protections with the deep-voiced kind of people. We’re afraid they might assault us you see sir, because some of you have been known to do that sir. It’s probably because of our shrill voices sir, for which again we apologize sir, but we can’t help it sir.

If he got a job as a mouse catcher, he would be dead set to chase down any shrill-voiced creature in the course of his duty; especially in womens’ restrooms and such. And as he says, he doesn’t mind being wrong, so if he found no mice in the womens’ rest room, he could just say ‘wrong again; no luck today’ and take his leave. But mouseketeer is not a job for the faint-hearted. It needs determination, skill and rigorous training.

I can actually imagine him responding, non-ironically: “What? No. Plenty of women have low voices. Just look at Rachel Levine. You shrill witches who make your voices high are doing that intentionally, just to hurt men.”

Or if not him, some random idiot on the internet.

I sincerely hope that 487 of the replies to his tweet are dragging him mercilessly for that (and the rest of his fucking awful behaviour and failure to engage honestly. It’s the least he deserves.

He’s definitely not being drowned in flattery.

From the replies comes this exchange:

Milli Hill @millihill “Shrill. Says it all.”

James Max @thejamesmax “Thought you’d enjoy that.”

    It was a deliberate jab.

He deleted it. So doubled down, then abandoned ship. Hopefully he learned something.

Not a whole lot of self-awareness going on there, in comments such as ‘a lot of prejudice that’s remains alive and well’.

He learned nothing. He’s still at it today.

Well, he doesn’t want to listen to that “shrill small voice,” does he?

Maybe he at least learned that women aren’t going to back down.

But that just makes him a martyr and therefore even more right than he was before!

People like him equate having a bit of a hard time on Twitter for 24 hours with a continuing generations-long struggle for equal human rights. He sees himself as a brave warrior because those awful shrill women disagree with him; that just proves him right.

He has waded into this fight precisely because he has absolutely nothing to lose. He can say what he wants, behave how he likes, be an absolute cock to the smart, warn, caring, funny, knowledgeable Milli Hill, and come out of it completely unscathed with his ego boosted into Jupiter’s orbit.

There’s no way he’s backing down. Not ever.
