No assuming needed

Gee I don’t know, that’s a real puzzler.

Kidding. He “assumes” that because Strangio is not a man, gay or straight. A woman, no matter how butch, is not a man.

The real question is why do adults do this crap? And why do other adults encourage them?

    Nice to see Maher has finally peaked.

    Maher gets a lot right in the segment, and he should be commended, but he misses a lot as well. One of them was this bit Strangio is referring to, regarding the Grand Marshalls of the Pride Parade being trans people and a lesbian, therefore Pride was leaving out gay men. Pride parades have had many instances of leaving out or forcing out lesbians who dare question trans ideology, so if this parade is the first one that somehow includes lesbians and leaves out gay men, it would be the first I’ve heard of.

    This is extra super bonus ridiculous because Chase is in a relationship with Kimberly Drew, who seems to identify as a woman and in fact actually is one. Even in the “every day is opposite day” world of gender dogma, Chase has no claim to being a gay man.

    Maybe strange chaser is trying to prove she’s a man with her have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too-ness. She is gay because she’s with a woman, but she’s a man too, so therefore she’s a gay man. Would any woman make that argument? Checkmate, TERFs!

    @Papito:

    Many lesbian FtMs unironically adopt a strategy much like what you describe; they’re men, because of course they are, but they’re also *queer* men (although by genderist logic they ought to be straight), because they’re happier dating and socializing among lesbians. (Turns out straight women don’t line up to jump into bed with “men” who have vulvas. Who knew?)

    Somewhat predictably, FtMs who remain within lesbian communities draw the ire of both trans “lesbians” and trans “gay men,” because they expose the whole sham for what it is.

    My “all definitions of sex are uniquely and evil western imports” also muttered starkly about religion. The parsing described by Papito is worthy of the most elaborate Kabbalah text or Scholastic speculation on angels and pins.

    Jane Clare Jones tweets:

    You have to wonder what is going on in the heads of people who somehow think it is progressive to proclaim that people are only allowed to care about themselves and the things which directly affect them.

    Yeah, great social justice.

    This in response to someone who rejected Maher’s commentary because Maher is not a kid nor has kids, therefore he shouldn’t care about LGBTQ kids.

    It is interesting to read, on the one hand, that we should listen only to the voices of marginalized people in regard to the needs of marginalized people, we should not appropriate, we should “stay in our lane”, and, on the other hand, that the difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals care about other people. I know this isn’t exactly contradictory, but it’s close. Only certain groups can be cared about, and only those who disagree with “woke” social justice are required to “stay in their lane”.

    I’m constantly told to stay in my lane by men who say they are women.

    latsot, yes, the irony of being told to stay in one’s lane by someone who refuses to stay in theirs is strong.

    I was in particular struck by the conflict between “don’t talk about or render opinions about other people” and “we liberals care about other people”. We are allowed to care about other people only as long as we do it the right way, it seems.
