One step

Oh look, West Yorks Police have admitted it was a mistake. They haven’t actually apologized, yet, but they have dropped the charge.

It’s particularly galling as the ‘no further action’ means ‘the police intend to take no further action against the horrible dangerous criminal they locked up yesterday’. There had better be some ‘further action’ against the officers who behaved in such an appalling way.

And speaking of which, I was thinking earlier today that they must have known their actions would be subject to global scrutiny, if they were being recorded. How did the ramifications of that not cross their minds? Were they fully prepared to defend their behaviour? I guess the answer is ‘it doesn’t matter, they knew the force would not hold them to account and they appear to have been correct.’

I don’t know, I have a feeling they were floating on a cloud of imagined global approval for their awesome LGBTQ+ allyship and sensitivity and swiftness of response and refusal to back down and yadda yadda. Kind of a mini Pride March right in that Leeds front hall.
