Weird hobby first prize

Seriously though…what kind of lunatic goes to a hotel and lies around near the pool to take photos of his legs and post them on Twitter?????

Who does that?? And why???

It is a surprisingly popular activity, photographing one’s own legs while at the pool or beach. I have a number of friends and relatives, all of the younger persuasion, who do this. I don’t get it either.

I agree that it’s pretty common. I think the idea is that it’s the view from the poster’s perspective, and that perspective is “look how relaxed I am sitting here, just bare legs and feet, the pool/beach in the background, a drink by my side, not a care in the world!”

Not something I would photograph, but on the other hand I am one of those people who has a lot of pictures of plates of food, which I know other people find weird/irritating, so not going to judge here.

Not something I would do, either, but most people probably would find it weird that I photograph trash. I probably have the world’s largest collection of trash/litter photographs. (In my defense, I did use them in my environmental science class)

iknklast, I am compiling a similar one under the topic “Traces of Humans”, hopefully for an exhibit soon. Some is pure vehicle jetsam, some quite artistic in its own way.

Well now honestly. Plates of food are a WHOLE other thing because who is not interested in food? Jonathan Willoughby’s legs on the other hand, different story entirely.

Not only legs, but other things as well – or the lack of them.

Lots of people do the leg pictures (mostly young women, apparently). Lots of people find it annoying. It is apparently called “hot dog legs”, and there are some amusing pictures where actual hot dogs are used in place of the legs; they are hard to distinguish, if done well.

Food pictures I think are less controversial, but some people hate when other people post pictures of food. Also the minutiae of life. I personally enjoy posts about the minutiae of life. And pictures of food.

Tim, other things, yes – and so tastefully.
