Reich effect? Which one? Fourth, I’m guessing.

Signed “A low T male (who could probably still whoop Musk in a fight for what it’s worth, which is nothing).

Context for the lame attempt at irony, since I realise people here don’t know what I look like. Like Musk I’m a flabby middle aged man of average height with no known fighting ability (I note that Musk v Zuckerberg never happened) but what I do have is a considerable weight advantage and not all of that fat. I’d probably just sit on the twerp. I don’t tend to get into fights but when I do they’re funny.

Wow, a political theory based on elementary school peer dynamics.

    Rubbish.

Of course His Autistic Eminence likes it, it makes him look more geniusy.

Because the decisions high status males have made throughout history have always been so incredibly rational and worked out so well for everyone.

Don’t high T males join the armed forces – and the military is famous for encouraging independent thinking.

Uh, “observation”? Strikes me as more of a (poorly informed, lunatic) opinion. But it flatters Elon and identifies as a statement of fact, which is what counts these days apparently.

Exactly. Unless of course your an autist, then you can thwart their evil schemes with your special savant powers, because people don’t realize that we live in a comic book world, and the Uncanny X Men will save the universe.

I just noticed the cosplay outfit in Elon’s profile pic. Very um… heroic?

Will the adults please step forward as soon as possible? Jeezuz.

You hear similar ideas from Jordan Peterson.

Basically, what these guys are telling us is that they are stuck in junior high school.

I am neither a woman nor a low-T man, and I can’t defend myself physically. What’s with the assumption the only men uninterested in and unskilled in hand-to-hand combat must be “low-T”, and that no women possess such skills?

I think the reference to “Reich effect” is in regard to Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor and current writer and teacher of economic and political matters who wrote an op-ed in the Guardian saying that Musk is “out of control”.

High-T men aren’t particularly known for being intelligent or unemotional; they’re known primarily for senseless aggression. Doubt most male autistic are particularly high T either; this is stupid posturing by “betas” (eyeroll) trying to puff themselves up.

Wilhelm Reich. Crackpot pyschoanalyst and inventor of the “orgone accumulator.”

Orgone, named after the sexual orgasm, is, according to Reich, a cosmic energy. It is, in fact, the cosmic energy. Reich has not only discovered it; he has seen it, demonstrated it and named a town—Orgonon, Maine—after it. Here he builds accumulators of it, which are rented out to patients, who presumably derive ‘orgastic potency’ from it.

They simultaneously amuse & disgust me, these mediocre men who like to think they are ‘alpha males’ – a meme picked up from some misunderstood biological textbook or some dubious sociobiological screed, which they immediately apply to themselves in order to conceal their insecurities and bolster their narcissistic tendencies; and then they go on to bully others in order to show off their supposed credentials. ‘Autism Capital’ has never inquired into the truth of anything, or ever had any interest in thinking seriously, as he demonstrates by rehearsing stale and, more important, false ideas picked up on the right-wing fever-net.

How many of the Nazi hierachy actually embodies the Aryan Ideal they extolled? Rules, standards, and laws are for others.

Robert Reich had a great response on his Substack today, that I think is worth reading. It’s divided into two sections:

    I. Elon Musk is out of control;

II. How to rein Musk in.

He ends with an addendum about Musk’s response to an earlier version of the article.

  16. Ophelia Benson Avatar

That was what prompted me to see what Musk has been up to.

Apropos of nothing: how many alphas do packs generally have? And is an alpha that’s constantly fighting challengers even an alpha anymore?

…how many alphas do packs generally have?

I was thinking something similar, after a fashion. How long can these two thin-skinned narcissists abide each other? Also, there’s only room for one of them on that cross that both of them are trying to climb onto.

  19. iknklast Avatar

BKiSA, I suppose it depends on species, but my understanding is that there is usually one. And yes, if they are constantly fighting others, they are still alpha, but only as long as they are winning.

One of the things the alpha must be constantly doing is defending his status. Sounds like a lousy life to me. Better to be the beta male, sneaking off for trysts with the ladies while the alpha and the would-be alphas fight.

I think the people who promote this Greek letter classification garbage are all too concerned with their own social status — with social status itself being an ostensible scale. Maybe gangs of illiterate, adolescent men organize this way, but it’s a crap theory that explains almost nothing.

  21. Holms Avatar

Huh. Interesting that Coel is nowhere to be seen when Musk is visibly supporting absurdities.

  22. iknklast Avatar

Holms, I don’t know. I think Coel agrees with this…and I think he sees himself as one of the high status males who should be in charge. The rest of us should sit back and watch in admiration as he tells us just how everything works.

Try this for size: Elon Mustk twittering, or X-ing, in support of Tucker Carlson’s interview with a Holocaust denier, who claims that the Nazis were forced into killing people with Zyklon B and other ways as a humanitarian resort, since they had captured or rounded up so many people that they couldn’t feed them so rather than let them die slowly of starvation… . Musk took down the tweet after a ferocious backlash, but here’s a copy:

    Very interesting. Worth watching.
