A lesbian complains because the police are marching in a Pride parade, because that indicates they can’t impartially protect people like her because the other folks at the Pride parade are so horribly homophobic. And that argument is upheld in court because it’s true.
I know this is where we are. I just can’t understand how we got here.

I agree, Papito. How it ever became necessary to bring such a court case is baffling. And terrifying. So many people behaving as if they can interpret the law however it suits them personally, and break it with impunity, whilst depriving other people of fundamental rights? Madness.
