I’m sure the fact that the woman is Black has nothing to do with this whimsical bit of forgery from the Trump goons.
The captions are wrong: the one on the left is the fake, obviously.
Pretty unabashedly racist, if you ask me. In the real image she looks calm and resolved; in the fake one created and posted by the government she looks a mess.
They get worse every day.
The captions appear correct to me. For some reason, the double photo you have included in the post has the White House “crying” image on the left, while all the images in the article have that version on the right.
I agree with Sackbut (that the captions are correct). Chronologically, DHS posted the original image first, then the White House posted the doctored image 33 minutes later.
The Guardian story above is excellent at explaining how they compared the two images. I found another story below that also explains a comparison of the two images.
This is probably old news to most here (I’m pretty inept at politics), but it occurs to me that the shamelessness of the Republicans is their superpower.
