The bit in the comic about the little girl wanted to grow a beard reminded me of this episode from my childhood:
When I was about four, I’d heard about “waitresses”. I thought they were interesting, and so I told my parents “I want to be a waitress when I grow up!”
My parents gave “Kids say the funniest things” smiles to each other, and explained, “Sorry, but you CAN’T be a waitress. You’re a boy. Boys are waiters, and girls are waitresses.”
Nowadays, my parents would denounced on social media as Wicked Transphobes and Bad People, who don’t behave like Model Parents like Susie Green and Jeanette Jennings.

Side note: the art style used in the newspaper article is really ugly.
Hannah Jacobs’ characters all look like they have paws on the end of their boneless arms. And the walking movements of the characters look stiff and unnatural.

It’s cringingly ugly – the man’s horrible tiny head and gigantic sprouting hairs everywhere and nightmare face – eeeeeyuckkkk.
