Trump is an illiterate fucktard, no need to get sexist about it. I never thought using the B word was very effective of an insult anyway, as insulting as it is. Also the C word is very taboo in US culture, and always sounds extreme when Brits use it in the colloquial, despite it’s literal meaning. Trump is not a “little bitch” either, he’s way worse. He’s an ignorant adolescent with very limited intelligence. How this fecking moron got to be President twice still escapes me. It challenges my faith in humanity, given how many people voted for the worthless bastard. Do better, Kinzinger, stop pulling your punches.

The B-word is a weird slur. Applied to a woman, it says she’s insufficiently feminine. Applied to a man, it says he’s insufficiently masculine.

Colin – hmmmm – I don’t think calling a woman “bitch” says she’s insufficiently feminine. There are other epithets that say that, but “bitch” not so much. It says she’s mean, harsh, pugnacious. Or maybe it just means “bad” – like “cunt” but not as taboo. (I really hate it that “cunt” is not taboo in the UK. It should be, god damn it.)

One of my peeves about Gervais, he’d be just as good without the C word. Not only is it extreme in the US, it’s unnecessary.

Also it’s very sex specific (both B and C), it’s not like people balance it out with ‘dickhead’ or something similarly gonadish. Here again, men get a pass.

What I’m saying. There is no equivalent of “cunt” for men – in the US that is; it functions quite differently in the UK, which I think is highly unfortunate, because function or no function it still refers to the female body part not the male one.

It just goes to show how much men hate women. There’s not only the b-word and the c-word, but there’s always “like a girl”: throws like a girl, runs like a girl, cries like a girl, and so on. The very worst thing a boy or man could ever be is a girl. Cf. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “girly-man” insult.

Exactly, always with the ‘fairer sex’ bullshit. If you really think so, why are there so many hateful epithets? And yet there are a very small group of men who insist they are women too, who seek to dictate public policy to undermine and neutralize the rights women have fought for for decades, maybe even millenia. It makes no sense.

To be fair, I’m not immune. I’ve been a great admirer of women all my life, but only in the past couple decades or so been aware of the built in misogyny of the language and culture. It’s pervasive.
