Safe

Good news, which so far I can’t find anywhere online apart from Facebook, so I can’t link to it in News, so for now I’ll just say it here. Pegah Emambakhsh has been granted refugee status in the UK.

Hurrah!

Death by lapidation, I believe, is much more cruel and inhumane than other ways to kill a human being. The agony, by all accounts, can last for more than ten minutes as smaller stones are thrown first, to be followed by others that break the bones, until deathly blows are inflicted on the head.

If you are a death penalty aficionado, you still should find it repulsive.

It is so terrifying to think that this could have been the fate of Pegah Emam Bakhsh. It was nice of B&W to send an Open letter to the Home Office, on the 21 August 2007.

There’s news of Pegah Emambakhsh in the latest issue of Gay & Lesbian Humanist magazine. Once inside it (at http://www.gayandlesbianhumanist.org), go to the “World Watch” section and there’s a story, with pic, there. Oh, there’s a fair bit of other good stuff in there, too, and you don’t even have to be gay!
