    Also, too, there are kelp forests in Puget Sound. It’s fun to take a kayak out on a warm summer day and paddle around in the “canopy” of the forests.

    The kelp forest at the Aquarium is 28 feet tall, and three stories. At the top you can see the machine for making waves and the silo-shaped thing that degasses the water. I got to see the diver I’d just been watching in the forest: a dude with a long grey pony tail, a hipster moustache, and tattoos.

    Yup. I used to know biologists at the Seattle Aquarium who dove – I think they all had to be certified divers as well as biologists. Anyway they all liked the job quite a bit.
