Firebombs

In Goteborg last night:

Three people have been arrested for allegedly throwing firebombs at a synagogue in the Swedish city of Goteborg, the second anti-Jewish attack in the Nordic nation in two days. Jewish groups condemned the attacks as “unconscionable” and demanded that authorities take action.

The attack took place after some 200 people rallied late Friday in the southern city of Malmo, yelling anti-Jewish slogans and waving Palestinian flags to protest U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Nice work, Don.

On Saturday, Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom tweeted that those who called for Jews to be killed did something “totally unacceptable.”

The European Jewish Congress said Sunday it was “unconscionable that Jews are under attack on the streets of Europe” and urged Swedish and other European governments to take “strong punitive action” against perpetrators.

Don’t worry, nice Mr Trump will fix everything.

Isn’t it great? A situation has been smoldering for decades, and the Donald thinks it would be fun to throw a lighted match into it…I wouldn’t be surprised if this is exactly what he wants. These macho sorts love the idea of somebody fighting a war (as long as they don’t have to fight it themselves) and he absolutely doesn’t seem to believe in anything that slightly resembles diplomacy.

Reports of a blast in Manhattan’s Port Authority bus terminal.

Apparently the suspected perpetrator is the only one injured.

Details on how the suspect was apprehended were not immediately available, but the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, a union representing Port Authority police officers, said on Twitter that the department’s officers took down the suspect at gunpoint.

According to the police, three subway lines — the A, C and E — were evacuated as a result of the blast. All subway trains were bypassing the Port Authority and Times Square stations, officials said.
