Adam Schiff sums it up: Flynn and Trump and Cohen all said things about when the Trump Tower Moscow deal ended that were not true, and the Russians knew they were not true, so they were all compromised. Trump was arguing for doing away with sanctions while he campaigned and while he was working on a deal that would require an end to sanctions for him to make money. The corruption is broader and deeper than we knew.
At the same time candidate Trump publicly urged sanctions relief for Russia, he was privately putting together a business deal in Moscow that required lifting US sanctions. Yet no matter how much broader and deeper the corruption may prove to be, it will never be so bad as to genuinely surprise or shock most thinking people where Trump is involved. I think it a given that there is no bar so low that Trump would not hesitate to burrow underneath.
Quick poll: If it were to be revealed that Trump ordered the killing of business, legal, or political rivals and threats, who here would honestly say ‘I didn’t ever think he’d go that far’?
He is so obviously envious of leaders who kill their opponents and get away with it, that it would not surprise me in the least. He’s given Kashoggi’s killers cover, admired Duterte’s extrajudicial killings, Putin and Kim’s toughness. He accepts the denials of these proven killers over the findings and warnings of his own intellegence apparatus. He’s a wannabe dictator who is frustrated that he can’t play in the same league as murderous dictators. Sending the US Army to deal with the caravan of refugees, opining about “second ammendment people” dealing with Clinton during the campaign, agitating for the execution (murder, really) of the Central Park Five AFTER they were exonerated, all show a longing for the unleashing of lethal force against people he feels desrve it. The sooner this grotesque turd is flushed out of the White House, the better.
