He could be hugely popular here. All he has to do is resign. People will love him for it (at least until we have to deal with Mike Pence).
They would love the fact of his resignation; I think it would take a lot more to love him. I might begin to see the outskirts of not loathing him if he were to be imprisoned. But that incarceration would have to include some admission of wrongdoing, which I think will only happen when Satan skates to work.
