Which, if you don’t want it, is a pretty massive takeover of your body. It’s pretty massive if you do want it, but if you don’t want it it’s all that plus the not wanting it part. Men like the barrister should think about that just a tad more than they normally do.

I don’t have any inside knowledge. Stylistically it looks as if it’s from an interview as opposed to her own writing.
I tried a Google search and found other people quoting it but none giving sources.
That is unfortunate.
Meanwhile in the US the new SCOTUS will block all of the abortion access *and* all this trans nonsense. Woohoo… *sigh*

Not so on the SCOTUS because even if they overturn Roe v. Wade, that sends the decision back to all the states to decide. Yeah, not crazy about having a patchwork quilt of “free” states and “non-free” states for women’s reproductive rights but there is also the chance that a new generation of women having to get up and fight for their rights might give those women something more useful to do than sit around propping up the gender woowoo cult.
Not sure what SCOTUS could do to end trans nonsense because those fights take years to make it to the highest court and the court often makes such narrow rulings that things never fully get settled.
Of course, if the court did overturn Roe, that would leave it free for Congress to ban abortion nationwide, but we can affect that by electing better Congress critters. Will we do that? I hope so.
