I hope I never have to take any of that.

What is he trying to say?

Hufflepufficide. Slytherin tried this years ago, didn’t work then either.

Seconding Rob’s question, what was he allegedly trying to communicate?

I’m struck again by the fact that he is never, ever, embarrassed about anything. If I’m giving a talk or a reading and flub something I’ll move on quickly (I know it’s usually not as awful to the audience as it sounds to me–though I’m finding it’s worse now as a lot more of what I say on these occasions is recorded for posterity) but I am embarrassed when I make a mistake in public.

Ugh. Not even is he not embarrassed, it’s like he he sees this unfamiliar new word and just takes it for granted that it’s up to him to show the ignorant peasants how it’s to be pronounced. “Hear my new word and weep, losers!”

I’ve recently had him inflicted on me by a podcast, directly into my ears (shudder). I noticed that he was really lingering on the s-sounds. So now he’s Orange Gollum to me.

    Internet says ‘Cepheid’.

I say Cepheid on a fairly regular basis (because I teach Earth Science), and I see no way it could be pronounced that way. Besides, what does it have to do with anything Trump would be talking about?

It’s actually in the comments under the tweet Ophelia linked to:

‘Dickinson, Hologic and Cepheid. Ya…he can’t read. Cepheid does PCR Testing. It took me 5 times to figure out he meant Cepheid. Whats he say about “low IQ individuals”?’

I see the White House transcript has that. “These private-sector leaders, along with others such as Roche, Abbott, Becton Dickinson, Hologic, and Cephe– Cepheid, have been…”

Okay, that makes sense. I think of Cepheid only in astronomical terms, so it didn’t make any sense before.
