Trump says vote twice
Trump is telling people to commit voter fraud now.
President Donald Trump during a trip to North Carolina on Wednesday appeared to encourage voters to try to vote twice to make sure the system is working properly.
His remarks came following a question from a WECT reporter about absentee voting in the state.
“They’ll go out and vote and they’re going to have to go check their vote by going to the poll and voting that way,” Trump said. “Let them send it in and let them go vote and if the system’s as good as they say it is, then obviously they won’t be able to vote. If it isn’t calculated, they’ll be able to vote. So that’s the way it is and that’s what they should do.”
They are not going to have to go check their vote by going to the poll and voting that way. The way to check it is by tracking it online. That has the advantage of NOT BEING A FEDERAL CRIME.
The North Carolina State Board of Elections website says that if someone has voted by absentee ballot and then shows up to vote in person, the check-in system will alert the poll worker that the person has already voted.
Duh.
Voting more than once in an election is a form of voter fraud and a federal offense.
But Trump said people had to do that.
He should be tied up and taken away in an unwashed fish-hauling truck bound for Tierra del Fuego.
What exactly do you have against Tierra del Fuego?
Ah nothing, but Trump would HATE it there – all that wind and cold and no shiny goldy towers. Tierra del Fuego wouldn’t mind, the wind would drown him out.

Projection. 100% projection. Of COURSE they think mail voting is fraudulent, because they would LOVE to fraudulently game the system. Of COURSE he says to double stuff the ballot box, because that’s EXACTLY what he would do if he thought he could get away with it. “Honesty” is not a concept he can even understand, so it cannot ever even register in his brain that not everybody is a congenital liar, conman, cheater, and thief, like he is.
The plus side is a lot of republicans will try this and it will be reported (not that facts matter to them but it will be verifiable data). The down side is a lot of republicans will do this and slow everything down by making the poll workers check. Hopefully the laws allow for immediate consequences for the simple attempt to vote twice so they can be handed a summons/citation/whatever on the spot.
maddog, not only has he gamed the system, but he has gotten away with it. That reinforces his idea that everyone games the system, because nothing ever happens to him. He does the most outlandishly blatant illegal things, and people shrug and say oh well. It’s a version of “boys will be boys”, which let’s young men get away with everything from minor peccadilloes to rape. In this case, it’s “Trump will be Trump”, which lets Trump get away with stealing our country blind, exacerbating a pandemic, and selling us to Russia, and nothing can stop him. Susan Collins was right, Trump has learned his lesson. He’s learned he can act anyway he wants, and no one will ever even take away a single scoop of ice cream.
Republicans like to toss the word treason about with abandon. What might one call active efforts to subvert the very fabric of the democratic process? Hmm, I don’t know…
I’ve done poll work. If a voter is recorded as having received a mail-in ballot, they must surrender it at the polling station in order to vote in person.
If they don’t surrender their mail-in ballot, but insist on voting anyway, their ballot will be marked as provisional. Those get counted separately by poll workers. The state Elections Department will then do the necessary checking.
That’s how it works in California, anyway.
And the poll worker (a volunteer working a 15+-hour day for a nominal pay) has no way of knowing if you’ve voted or not. All they can tell is that you’ve received a mail-in ballot.
