Je suis Charlie

The students at Batley Grammar have better sense than the adults outside the gates.

Death threats. The guy died 15 centuries ago, he doesn’t care what people say about him.

So they want their kids to get a good, modern, free Western education but want that education tempered by 15-centuries-old Eastern religious beliefs. Not sure that will work.

A scary sub-text; it took 2,000 years before people could seriously start to sort the contexts of “Christianity” and begin to undo even a very, very few of the harms perpetuated in its name. Do we have another 500 years of this Abrahamic prophet nonsense to fight through before some level of sanity can prevail? Is there some simple way we can cut to the chase? Sadly in light of the Bibi’s ongoing freedom – we may well be on a long, long path . . .

Okay, so this makes sense of the making fun of from the last thread. It was the cartoons.

Still, people have the right to make fun. They have the right to question. They have the right to disagree with you. But now we are living in a world where too many people say “Nuh uh” to that. With weapons.

Good to hear the students standing up for him – because the head folded faster than a spring loaded deckchair.

And, as Malik pointed out: the injunction against Mo images is NOT some universal ‘value’ in Islam. The outrage and mob violence is a concoction of Wahhabi crackpots. The same ones who erase even Islam’s historical sites in their deranged war against time and history.
