Has anyone suggested to Garbs that this make some students unsafe and unappreciated?
Colin, if the magical and enticing Gegi makes children uncomfortable, then they are baby TERFs, and deserve to be punished, er, reeducated.
Isn’t this bypassing normal, adult supervision? Wouldn’t this be seen as grooming in normal circumstances? Would this sort of targeting and encouragement for children to intervene in the running and administration of school and classroom environments be tolerated for any other topic? Imagine if a political party did this. What would the response to that be? It’s at least akin to advertising sugar-loaded breakfast cereals to kids, so that the grown-upswill have to buy it when they go to the grocery store.

And these days we (teachers of all levels) are being told to let the students decide what to learn, how to be tested, and so forth, because they are the experts on them, they know what is best for them. (Tip to educators: they are not experts on education, and in fact aren’t really experts on themselves. I don’t know if I’ve learned enough to be the expert on myself, and I’ve had many decades head start on them. We are often not as expert on ourselves as we think we are.)
This trans in the classroom has just taken advantage of a movement in education toward allowing the children to take over the classroom from the people who actually know something. Like in everything else, they step in and parasitize what someone else has done.
The important question is:
Pronounced gheh-ghee? Jeh-ghee? Gheh-jee? Jeh-jee? Something else?
My inclination is “gheh-ghee” because I think of “get” and “give”, but the G comes from “gender”, so may “jeh-jee”. I haven’t bothered to look at their site for pronunciation, for gastrointestinal reasons.
Sackbut, I figured it was the entirely obvious and boring “gee-gee” as in horse, jazzed up with snazzy spelling.
Does anybody else wince internally every time they read “educators”? Where did that come from? It looks like part of a pattern of deliberately using (in the minds of the instigators) more formal language to achieve [???].
Is this somehow linked to the lessened social status of mere “teachers”. Using a fancier word may just be an empty gesture to signal appreciation while achieving nothing materially.
