Nullification

There’s a plastic surgery firm in San Francisco called Align Surgical Associates. It’s on Facebook.

I didn’t include the photos.

    Nice little earner, I’m sure.

Wow, Barbie and Ken doll surgery. The opportunism of these surgeons!

There is one born every minute, and relieved of their money by smarter cookies born every hour.

How is that legal? Doctors won’t perform hysterectomies on women if they are still of child-bearing age. How does this surgeon get around all the rules against body modification?

This something out of a horror movie.

Is ‘Eliza Mondegreen’ a real name? It sounds like something out of the Harry Potter books, or Roald Dahl’s short stories.

I’m sure “Eliza Mondegreen” is a pseudonym. There is a well-known “misheard lyric” instance where “they laid him on the green” is rendered “the Lady Mondegreen”, and this is a variant. It’s so typical that the term “mondegreen” is often used to refer to any misheard lyric.

‘Align Surgical Associates’, as well as its cheery messages, sounds rather fictional, too.

There is a commenter on this blog who uses the nym “Lady Mondegreen”. She’s great, but she hasn’t posted in a while, and I miss her comments. I follow “Eliza Mondegreen” on Twitter; she posts some excellent stuff. I don’t know if they are the same person.

Align Surgical Associates has a professional web site, with lots of information and tons of unsettling pictures illustrating the surgeries. The name “Align” sounds reasonable to me, given what they do. I’m sure I’ve also seen “Align” used in the name of an orthodontia practice somewhere.

Sackbut, I wondered the same thing and was hoping people here knew :|

I do. Lady Mondegreen is a real life (albeit geographically distant) friend. I’ll tell her her comments are missed. Eliza Mondegreen just recently tapped me on the shoulder on Facebook to introduce herself – different name altogether.

I also wondered if the Align thing is real, which is why I went looking for more and found the Facebook page. I don’t know for sure but they advertise their services so…
