That abstract reads like concentrated distillate of every furiously impotent MRA argument ever made.
Put “white woman,” “racism,” “rape,” and “ tears as a form of manipulation “ together and it immediately evokes the image of a woman lying about being raped. I get the impression that when she was young Phipps read To Kill A Mockingbird and forever blamed Mayella. Reporting a rapist is like falsely accusing a black man. And (mumble mumble mumble) therefore Transwomen aren’t permitted to pee.

There’s an attempted rape in Gone With the Wind – an entanglement of KKK-promoting and misogyny that made Margaret Mitchell rich n famous. The Scottsboro Boys were a well-known miscarriage of justice in the 30s. Carolyn Bryant gets more blame for the murder of Emmett Till than the two men who murdered him do. It’s a big subject, and Phipps’s pretended interest in it is just hipster-academic posturing.
