Now you’re corrected

I get the feeling the venom is getting more venomous.

I guess that’s the “d’Amour” part? Very lovey-dovey I must say.

Anyway Philip Pullman approves of it.

Feminist women are cunts, and Philip Pullman tells us to go to hell if we object to his endorsement of that view. Strange times.

Updating: It’s even worse than that.

Oh, yes, that’s fine then. Call us cunts all day long if you think we’re “transphobes” i.e. women who don’t agree that men who call themselves women are women. Cunts are very filthy disgusting things after all, which is why men are so much better at being women than women are.

Ironic, given that he resigned as president of the Society of Authors because–

In his resignation letter, which has just been published, he said: “Recent events have made it apparent that when a difference of opinion arises, there is no easy way to resolve it within the constitution or the established practices of the Society.

“When it became clear that statements of mine were being regarded as if they represented the views of the Society as a whole (although they did nothing of the sort, and weren’t intended to), and that I was being pressed by people both in and out of the Society to retract them and apologise, I realised that I would not be free to express my personal opinions as long as I remained President.

Go to hell then, Sir Phillip.

“Mitten” is most definitely NOT a woman. “Mitten” is a man in womanface.

Unlike JKR’s alleged “transphobia”, Phillip Pullman’s contempt for women requires no secret decoder ring to detect. Thanks for the clarity, Phillip.

    And, go to hell.

But the tweet begins “as a woman”! Isn’t that how women typically begin all their assertions? Clearly a woman!

As a giraffe, I find this all most confusing.

But then again, and before it all gets too serious:

But not everyone has relinquished their connection to Baubo [the Greek vagina goddess – Omar]. And some believe that her story has relevance for women today. Referring to her as the “Greek Goddess of Humor,” A.C. Smythe of Goddess Gift explains that Baubo should be “celebrated as a positive force of female sexuality and the healing power of laughter. [She] teaches us a lesson in how to turn enmity into friendship. Perhaps her bawdy behavior was a reminder that we should remember that all things will pass and change. To not take things too seriously, for nothing lasts forever.”

Similarly, Jen Miller, on her blog Quill of the Goddess, describes Baubo as “The queen of deep belly laughs, dirty jokes, and unbridled sexuality. I would compare her to Mae West or Amy Schumer. She is a goddess who speaks directly from her genitals, and your approval is neither sought nor required.” Maria Wulf, on her blog Full Moon Fiber Art, even makes Baubo relatable by explaining that she “is the part of us that’s ‘too loud’ and cackles at dirty jokes. The one who is having ‘too much fun.’”

    Hope this helps.

“The people being called that word were specifically transphobes.”

Not much of a defence, given how freely that label is given. All it takes is “there are two sexes” in some circles.

I’m confused. I’ve been repeatedly assured by Ricky Gervais that “c*nt” is not a sexist word at all. It’s an ancient Scots word for “mate.”

Pullman – he is a curious man. I admired the first two volumes of ‘His Dark Materials’ trilogy (not the last), and actually met him once: I was back in England (I live in Japan) and went into a bookshop in Berkshire where it turned out that he was signing copies of his latest publication, so I bought a copy for the sons of some friends of mine in Japan and got him to sign it. We chatted about Milton, whom we both admire, and at the time I liked him. But there is a strong streak of didacticism in the man, as well as what seems to be a desire to be on the ‘cutting edge’ of every fashionable idea, so long as it seems to be sufficiently on the more ridiculous left of the political spectrum (to the extent that one wonders whether he is doing this out of sincere belief or out of a cynical desire to appeal to a certain readership), and a desire to be some sort of public intellectual. All of which combined ruins his latest books, in my judgement. The desire to keep up with the latest drives for some sort of indiscriminate ‘liberation’ means that he is no longer writing out of some deep place, but has become a sort of shallow illustrator of popular (among certain people) trends..

@james – I have a pun in mind related to “No it ain’t,” but I’ll just leave it out in this forum. I think only Kristen Schaal could make it work.
