Art up in flames

More on Prymachenko and the Russian war crime:

The Ivankiv Historical and Local History Museum, located northwest of the capital city Kyiv was burnt to the ground, along with 25 works by Prymachenko, according to the Kyiv Independent.

Vlada Litovchenko, director of the Vyshhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve, confirmed the “irreparable loss.”

“Numerous historical and architectural monuments and archaeological sites are under threat of artillery shelling and uncontrolled movement of heavy military trucks,” Litovchenko wrote in a statement on Facebook that was translated into English.

The aims and goals of war are fleeting. Even the victor dies, and those things they destroyed cannot be made whole once the peace has been won.

We are still savages, with our hands on high technology.

That kind of vindictive behaviour gives the lie to any suggestion that Putin has sent in a peace-keeping force. There was no violence, except those few skirmishes instigated by pro-Russian activists, until the Russian forces invaded. What pointless nastiness; of a piece with the destruction wrought by the Taliban and other religious-based forces of occupation. Why do such men feel the need to be so destructive?
