This is unbelievably obnoxious and intrusive and aggressive.
It’s a captive “audience,” extremely tightly confined, with no escape possible. Standing up and making a lot of noise of any kind is grossly rude, and making a lot of religious noise is an outright insult.
Now Ilhan Omar is on the naughty stool because she asked what people would think if Muslims did it. Of course, in Islamist countries, Muslims do do it, but she’s not wrong to hint that no one should do it.
Oh Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick. I was on a plane yesterday; the worst we got was a couple of “Happy Easters” from the flight attendants.
And the all sheeple sat there and put up with it. What people find tolerable is frightening.

Nobody wants to be the first to stand up and object, just in case the rest are actually enjoying it and pile on them.
That’s why there are no out atheists in religious communities.
They believe that gospel music will make everyone love Jesus, and interpret the Parable of The Talents to mean that God will punish them for eternity if they don’t do this.
Their God is a Loving God, indeed.
I remember something rather similar happening in a commuter train I was on, quite a few years ago. At least in that case it’s easy to just get off and get on the next train.
I’m a little surprised the flight attendants didn’t put a stop to it. It would certainly annoy the other customers.
I’ve been trying to decide if I would have objected or not. I’m thinking I would probably have decided not worth the hassle, but possibly not – I do summon the nerve or energy to tell people to put their masks on on the bus, so maybe I would for this bullshit too.
Pardon me, stewardess. I’m starting to feel uncomfortable, because there’s someone on the plane who is clearly a religious extremist, and he won’t take his seat. He’s praying in a very loud voice in the aisle.
I had a similar experience on Amtrak. The conductors didn’t stop him, probably because no one complained. Fortunately, I had ear plugs, but that shouldn’t be necessary.
Why didn’t the flight attendants put a stop to it? Planes have been run like prisons ever since 2001, and all the more so during the pandemic, so wtf?
Some people are oblivious to how utterly rude and selfish they are, and need to be told. I get fed up pretty quickly. Reminds me of Star Trek 4 when Spock silences the punk on the bus. I have become verbally obnoxious with seat kickers on airplanes before (to the horror of my family members), so I’m sure I would have protested rather loudly.

Then again we don’t have the backstory, the passengers may have been all members of some megachurch or cult or something. Still rude as hell though. The other thing that struck me is how white they all are. :P

Some of the passengers are church-havers together, but not all.
I recall being on Amtrak train years ago when a group of young women starting singing a popular song (good voices, some harmony, but still). Eventually a conductor (of the train variety, not musical) came by and told the women to quiet down. They did so, but grumbled loudly that someone must have complained, “One person!”, as if the fact that only one person was brave enough to complain made the disturbance less rude.
I have a feeling that “one person” complaining would be seen similarly in this airplane incident. As if it’s OK so long as no one complains, and a mere one person complaining is just a spoilsport asshole.
There is a church a few neighborhoods away from me that started having outdoor services due to Covid. I could hear the preaching and music they broadcast over the loudspeakers from 3/4’s of a mile away, every Sunday. It wasn’t very noticable inside my house but I could hear it outside, far enough away that it was garbled gibberish, but still pretty obnoxious. I think if I lived any closer I would have developed quite a relationship with police dispatch. Fortunately they stopped a few months ago. Now if only the yahoos would quit having fireworks for every damned holiday… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sometimes I miss the quiet of living out in the sticks.

Thanks guest, I’m glad they brought that back, it was one of the memorable scenes of ST4. Guess I need to catch up with Jean Luc & Co. when I get a chance. :) I gave up on Discovery, it’s excessively woke, which I find boring. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
