Given the timing, they’re probably trying to catch some of the public outrage over the abortion ruling. Older women are coming forward with tales of having to have secret abortions done by maverick doctors before Roe v Wade. Not to be outdone, turns out the same thing was true about Life Saving Gender-Confirmation Surgery. Let’s connect the two together.
I, personally, think they should be arrested for practicing mutilation without a license. I would hope that even in Washington the magic words “we’re trans, so it’s okay” wouldn’t stop the DA from prosecuting.
This does not equate to the Chicago Janes, who sought to ensure that the abortions were perfumed safely by qualified practitioners.
Mike, I agree, they should start collecting evidence. Surely this is actionable, especially if the victims come forward. Fact is more horrifying than fiction, it’s dreadful.
Remember when the idea of performing unnecessary surgery was horrific? Like, in one of the non-comedic bits of the original Ghostbusters, Egon says the cult leader Ivo Shandor “performed a lot of unnecessary surgery”, and we the audience understood this to be a Very Bad Thing.
I do! Along with a lot of suspicion of Big Pharma and Big Medicine and all the rest of it. Where did all that go?
