Shame on everyone who has thrown her to the wolves, she concludes.

NO in thunder.

Well done.

Listen, I know I should be working, but while waiting for other things to happen so I can complete my tasks I was on Twitter and saw this and was just about to share it in #9.

Coincidence? Probably not. As has been stated, the Universe is rarely that lazy.

I think I saw it via you!

A truly beautiful piece. Bravo to her, and best wishes. I hope she’s solid enough to be able to brave the storm.

I think a week or so ago, someone was tweeting about how JKR had said things so transphobic that they created a whole new level of transphobia.

There was, of course, no elaboration, quote, or link. Can’t do that. The witch knows what she’s on trial for, and if you question it, well, there’s room in the prisoner’s dock for one more!

“Educate yourself” they said. This is what happens when you do that without having reached a conclusion before you start.

Not Bruce, you probably remember they said that to Martina, too. Then hated the conclusions she reached when she educated herself.

They always say “It’s not up to me to educate you”. Hell yes, it is. If you are wanting me to take your point of view, it is your responsibility to tell me why and provide evidence to support it. If you are not an activist, but are just crying and running to HR because I called you “he” because I had no idea you were “she”, and your beard and build sort of confused me, then it is still your responsibility to provide evidence.

If you just say “educate yourself”, then you don’t have any rights to be upset with the conclusion I draw from the evidence available.

I used to support trans rights; I still actually do in the sense that everyone else here does, and in the sense that Rowling does. I see no reason to deny housing and services to a man just because he wears a dress and lipstick and tilts his head. Same as I see on reason to deny him housing because he is an atheist, a person of color, or a Democrat. None of those reasons are good reasons, and none of them are legal.

But I educated myself. I learned what trans were really asking for, and what level their oppression really was. And I peaked.

iknklast et al, similar experience. When the great terf wars broke out at that other place I followed OB back here, but also remained there. I took their advice, educated myself, and stopped reading all except Ed Brayton, Mano Singham, and Marcus Rannum, and even they began to disappoint.

Education is the single most powerful tool humanity has ever devised.
