Right in front of your eyes

World’s most conceited philosophy academic continues his campaign to malign feminist women.

One guy retweets something=”this alliance.”

(Who’s Jerry Dunleavy? I’ve never heard of him. Google tells me he’s a reporter for the Washington Examiner. Somehow that’s feminists’ fault?)

And that’s why he’s a Yale professor of philosophy and you’re not.

I wish these social justice philosophers would stop ruining philosophy. It’ll be decades before the discipline recovers and decades more before it regains anything like respectability.

@2 Or eventually rendered obsolete, poisoned beyond recovery by morons. It’s infuriating.

No, no, the appropriate choice is Death By Chocolate.

I agree, but I have to note: I had an irrational dislike of philosophy (such as refusing to take, not just philosophy classes, but even non-philosophy classes in the same department, that irrational), pretty much up until I started reading philosophers talking about atheism or about issues surrounding gender identity ideology. Well, also reading philosophers having the same complaints about other philosophers that I did. I gained a lot of respect for the field in a small number of years. It wasn’t all pompous obscurantism.

I think pompous obscurantism is to be found in fans of “Theory” in literature departments far more than it is in philosophy departments. Judith Butler is a classic example. It’s pretend-philosophy, philosophy as playacting, as opposed to the real thing.

Totally, absolutely true. It’s almost … performance.
