As the former PM of Australia Malcolm Fraser famously said, “Life wasn’t meant to be easy.” If he was still around he could say that again right now. When one is faced with the choice between Trump and Fox News. life becomes a slog too far.

He doesn’t need the most popular established conservative network, he’ll just start his own cable news channel. No problem. I mean look how wildly popular ‘truth social’ has become, it’s almost as successful as his airline, or his mail order meat, or his casino (really, who could fuck up a money machine like a casino ffs). It would be hilarious if Trumpski really did try to take the Lincoln Project to court. First, he can’t get lawyers anymore because he never pays them. Second, the truth is an absolute defense against slander. Third, discovery would be a helluva show. The Lincoln Project could sell tickets.

Australian Liberal Party PMs have a habit of theft of the lines of others. “Pig Iron Bob” Menzies stole the words of Thomas Ford with “I did but see her passing by, And yet I love her till I die.” That in reference to his “I’m British to the bootstraps” devotion to the late and unlamented Betty Windsor.
I’m sure Trump is worrying his sad little brain now over how he can wangle an invite to Betty’s funeral and get a ride in the hearse.

This is your periodic reminder that the Lincoln Project is basically Dr Frankenstein, running around the village crying for someone to “Please, please do something about that horrible monster!” I never hear them admit that Trumpism is the result of 5 decades of willful, eyes-open decisions made by those in power in the party (including most of themselves) to stoke nativism, populism, racism and sexism into a cohesive, if not precisely coherent, ‘base’ for the party to draw upon. Take advantage of any help they offer against Trump, yes, but never, ever trust the fuckers.
