By “anti-trans activists” he means women who don’t share his belief that men who call themselves women are women, and who point out the ways such a claim negates women’s rights. It’s not hateful and cruel for women to defend our rights and resist a campaign to hand them over to men who call themselves women.
Meanwhile he continues to pretend that “trans rights”=LGB rights and LGB rights=trans rights. Holyrood’s “gender recognition reform bill” is an assault on women’s rights.

The reason for the block is that it is very clearly incompatible with the Equality Act.
The response? The rest of us should change the EA so it’s compatible!
That is….. not democracy.
The only reason it got through is because those ‘years of consultation’ were spent listening to misogynists, and refusing to take any representations from anyone else. That’s not democracy. Railroading through some legislation on behalf of a minority against the wishes of the much greater opposition, and behind the backs of and without the knowledge of, the majority is the exact opposite of democracy. It’s what happened here – the LGB spent years winning hearts and minds, and got marriage equality with the blessing of the majority of the population. The T sneaked self-ID in on the bill’s coattails, and no-one noticed until it was too late.
I’ll be relieved if Westminster squashes this. At least the UK won’t be in the position of Ireland.
Here’s an article about the relevant section of the Scotland Act 1998, which covers Devolution. It allows Westminster to prevent an act going to Royal Assent from Scotland’s Devolved Parliament on the basis that it will affect an act/law which covers the UK as a whole

Watching the film is like driving by a train wreck. I couldn’t rip my eyes away.
An attack on democracy itself? When MPs voted to implement a law that was opposed by a majority of the citizens they’re supposed to represent?

In what world?
It took longer than the twinkling of an eye, because women and LG knew what a disaster it is for women, LG, and vulnerable children. The proponents, including many arrogant and intolerant MSPs, did their level best to ensure there was NO meaningful debate. If it had been honestly debated, the bill would have been “debated to death,” and would consequently have died an ignominious death as the warped, twisted piece of human rights violation legislation that it actually is. The proponents still got away with shoving it down everyone’s throats as totalitarian dogma that flies in the face of reality. It is only because brave women and human rights advocates were able to bring a modicum of actual debate and scrutiny to the issue, that UK officials are able to resist the wholesale destruction of UK equality law in favor of Patriarchy 2.0, the new model, which not only denigrates women, like patriarchy in general, but seeks to erase not only the mere vocabulary for women but even the conceptual existence of women. Neat trick. Reality don’t play.
OJ is a liar. He and others advocated for NO DEBATE, and very nearly got their way. The bill was never debated much at all, let alone “debated to death” on its actual merits.
I almost hope that he one day gets to experience the level of cruelty and erasure that he feels entitled to pronounce on for women. I hope he one day matters as little to everyone else as women matter to him. I hope he gets to feel that level of blithe dismissal, and that the dismissal hurts him as much as his cavalier pronouncements have hurt women, LG, and vulnerable children.
Also, the Scottish government has a history of trying to pass badly thought out, authoritarian legislation, (Named Person Act, Offensive Behaviour at Football Act) which is heavily opposed and dropped or repealed.
Sturgeon of course is trying to frame this as the heavy hand of Westminster coming down on oppressed Scotland, but many die-hard Nats have been welcoming the UK’s interventions.
