No, Pinky, it really doesn’t. Quite the opposite. All-trans sport is perfectly fine and doesn’t trouble us in the least. It’s the stealing women’s sports we object to. I think we’ve been very clear on this point.
We have to tell them how much it upsets us so they keep doing it.
I think that they think that the only reason anyone would oppose having transpeople in sports is that we hate transpeople and don’t want them to be visible (and that all the stuff that we say about women’s rights is just obfuscation). And therefore, they think, an all-trans league makes them even more visible, and therefore we should hate it even more.
That can’t really be described as “thinking” though.
They continually fail the Ideological Turing Test when it comes to understanding what their opponents actually support, oppose, and believe in.
The person that came up with that headline, and the people that approved it, reveal themselves to have no grasp of the feminist position they so despise. We want male competitors barred from female competition. Yes that includes trans women, as it should, because they are male. They have had ample opportunity to learn this – we have been telling explaining this to them for years! – but they think, or act as if they think our position is actually to end all trans people’s participation in all sports.
I’m sure the exact mix will vary from person to person, but this gross misunderstanding can only possibly be the result of both dishonesty and cultish thinking.
If you chant “trans women are women and non-binary people are valid” you simply won’t have time to realise that your beliefs are false or nonsensical. The Hare Krishna do this literally – devotees are required to spend their time reciting prayers leaving no free time for any serious thought. I think for TRAs the equivalent might be Twitter.
What’s interesting about the “historical all-trans rugby match” is that if you can bear to click through to Pink News, there’s a group photo, and it’s clear that the overwhelming majority of the players are female and on testosterone, meaning they’d have an unfair advantage over a women’s team but would get knocked blue and bloody by a men’s team. They seem to be coming from a different place from the male trans athletes who just want to cheat and stomp all over the women and then get naked with them in the locker room.
