Perturbed are they?

UN Women (the organization) is…alarmed.

Alarmed.

So alarmed that they said nothing for seven weeks.

There are many quote-tweets saying the same.

Shame on the UN for acting so slowly.

And shame on Eleanor Penny (sister of Laurie) who wrote this on the eleventh of October:

Take a sip of water and think about why unverified or already-debunked rumours about brown men mass raping white women and killing babies is so immediately credible to you.

Grimly amusing, since this was the same Eleanor Penny who was literally lecturing people about #MeToo and “how to Bring down the Patriarchy” a few years ago.

I guess Patriarchy doesn’t matter to Penny when it’s upheld by non-Western men.

The line of thought appears to be: Wouldn’t want to think people with different skin colours are anything other than saintly, therefore all reported rapes are false…? So, throwing jewish women under the bus in an effort to be pure of thought.

“So, throwing jewish women under the bus in an effort to be pure of thought.”

The *really* disturbing thing is that Eleanor Penny has Jewish ancestry.

I could make some dark speculations about why a Jewish woman is so desperate to deny that other Jewish women suffered sexual violence at the hands of non-Jewish, anti-Semitic men.

Give them a break, there were probably a bunch of trans women being misgendered somewhere.
