Summation

Not amazed. Not triggered. Not convinced.

Ok so then bring out the big guns, argumentatively speaking.

    God exists. Get triggered.

I mean, the definition of “triggered” used in these provocations invariably amounts to “disagree or react at all”, so …

Well…yes, if you redefine “men” so it no longer means “male person”. But apologetics only work if you buy the central premise.

I will grant this much: He is amazing. Well, I’m not so much amazed as…

Is there a good name for the emotional reaction that causes one’s eyes to roll back so hard that it’s a tiny bit painful?

It just floors me that a supposedly intelligent person (I don’t know him, so I’m assuming) could write the phrase “girl dicks” even once without collapsing into hysterical laughter.

    G @ 5 – it’s called Skepto-Ocular Dysphoria.

Looks like someone just found out about seahorses. We were all upset about it too, dude. Breathe.

I’ve seen many ‘sceptic’ sites and channels in my years being a woo sceptic myself, and I always think less of any person that names themselves or their channel to include rational, logical, intelligent or similar. Such names are unnecessary for the truly rational, logical etc. as they will build that reputation through their content.

Long ago I took a single glance at this guy and thought ‘nope.’

Yes it’s kind of like naming yourself Always Right About Everything or Brave and Stunning or Perfect Beyond Your Dreams of Perfection. Invites doubt.

This is something that seems very strange – how is it that *this* is what the “So Very Skeptic Atheist Bros” have thrown everything away for. Really.

They’ve quite literally gone from “Hurr, Religiot! Humans don’t have souls! You’re all stupid to insist on it!” to “Hurr! Of course I have a pink sparkly feeeeeemale identitay! You’re all stupid to deny it!”.

They’re right back agreeing that souls exist, and that they can be in the “wrong” bodies (by some mechanism that’s never made clear). Do they understand this, these Big Skeptic Bros?

It’s embarrassing, frankly. It’s the antithesis of everything they have been claiming when it comes to any other area. Unlike those who have been seriously considering the ideas and discussing what this *means* for practical life (in addition to intellectual implications), they’ve just been calling believers stupid. So it’s looking like they just wanted an excuse to feel Very Superior Doodz, and be dicks to people. All that Skeptic Stuff, and the Deep Thinkers, and the Rational Bros, and… they’ve thrown it away. For a bunch of fetishists in dresses.

    Seriously!

    So embarrassing.

I’m curious, but not curious enough to actually check it out, to see how the same bloggers at FtB who hounded you, Ophelia, while at the same time were quite up in arms at such atheists as The Amazing Atheist and Thunderf00t for being MRA atheists, view him now that he’s on “their side?”

Are there any of them so bold as to break the mold and see this as the Men’s Movement that it is?

Mike: Thunderfoot is not a gender woo follower is he? No. Disappointing! Not familiar with his MRA side but I love his tech scam debunking videos (He was right about Musk befor the latter’s reactionary nuttiness really came out)

I don’t know, I just referenced him as he and TAA were in the same cohort of male – centric skeptics about 12 years ago. I stopped paying attention.

Thunderfoot was kicked off Freethought Blogs, and as I remember it, part of it had to do with a falling out about the fact that most of the writers on the site were feminist. I think it was during the great Elevatorgate wars.
