I understand why he was reluctant to make this statement; for every person saying that he had become unelectable, there must have been a dozen saying that the primaries had already been held, it’s too close to the election to hold new ones, and he could retire immediately afterwards, handing the reins to Harris and whoever she might choose as her vice-president.
