That’s it, that’s the tweet

Oh thank god, Amnesty International has found the way to fix everything.

I mean, I don’t disagree, but amnesty have really turned into scolds and I don’t appreciate being treated like a naughty five year old instead of a thinking and aware adult. I remember when Amnesty actually used to try and educate people about issues.

I doubt that anyone who pays any attention to Amnesty disagrees so what is the point of mere brainless repetition? Without even music to help out?

There’s a billboard in my neighborhood with the words “Stop Being Racist.”

I’m reminded of the scene in Ghostbusters where Ray (Dan Aykroyd) says:

Gozer the Gozerian… good evening. As a duly designated representative of the City, County and State of New York, I order you to cease any and all supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension.

To which Peter (Bill Murray) can only say “that oughta do it. Thanks very much, Ray.”

I think accusations of “virtue signalling” are a little overdone — people really do have sincere beliefs, and a little signalling of one’s values is not a bad thing — but it’s hard to imagine anyone really believes that they’re accomplishing anything here other than feeling good about themselves.

Yes, and how, given the change in the size of target vis a vis the new definition does AI propose we do that? Is there a prescription that works with homo sapiens and not only with some hominid yet undiscovered?

At least “end white supremacy” is a coherent statement. Here in my very liberal town, there’s a gigantic mural on the side of a parking structure — maybe 75 feet tall? — that says “Weaponize your Black [something or other]”. Excuse me, do what now? I’m just trying to make a left turn safely.
