Does the forfeiture last forever? Or if you have good behavior for, say, ten years, can you that right reinstated?
Well, yes. Even changing a name (much less a “gender”) to perpetrate a fraud has always been a ground to refuse a legal name change. Male sex criminals should never be allowed to change their name — particularly a feminine name — because that would break the chain of tracing the sex criminal. Changing a name to hide any criminal record, not just sex crimes, is justifiably refused under existing law. But that’s part of why they insist so vehemently that there is, or should be, a rule against so-called “deadnaming.” Prevents anyone from making the connection.
Purporting to change one’s “gender” is even worse. Its main purpose is to allow men and boys to terrorize and sexually exploit women and girls.
So, despite everything that has happened, despite all the protests, despite her losing her leadership, she still backs ‘self ID’?!
The woman is either insane, being bribed by someone behind the scenes, or both.
(I’d actually like to see the whole interview, so I’d better go look for it.)

I seem to recall reading something about the Irish people being assured that self ID wouldn’t apply to criminals, although that reassurance seems to have been ignored.
I’m sure this strikes her as a reasonable compromise, but to anyone with a bit of sense, this is “No True Scotsman” made manifest–“Well, of course no transwoman is a rapist, therefore if a rapist claims to be trans, it must be a lie.”
