I have encountered homosexual people of both sexes who utterly loathed all people of the opposite sex. I have supposed that it is their way of coping with living in a society which frowns upon homosexuality; they aren’t helpless victims of their own sex drives, but are making a rational decision to exclude the obnoxious sex from their dating pool.
Of course, I have encountered plenty of heterosexual people of both sexes who also detest every member of the sex to which they are attracted. At least the homosexual ones don’t marry a member of the despised sex and proceed to make the spouse’s life utterly miserable.

You can’t even say it’s because he fancies them – they’re too old for him. I think old Fry genuinely dislikes all parts of women, whereas he continues to like men once they finish school and stop being sexually interesting for him.
