Bribery and fraud

Both disgusting and dishonest.

He can’t, and he wouldn’t if he could.

Plus you’re not allowed to buy votes. No, really, you’re not.

Just in time for Christmas! Thanks Santy Lawless!

Seriously, does he think the R’s will win both houses?

I know Trump thinks his voters are stupid, and frankly it’s one of the few things I agree with him about, but surely they can’t be quite THIS stupid? They thought they were going to get DOGE checks and tariff checks and medbed cards, but none of those have shown up, so why would this $5K show up?

He’ll be offering his voters a free bottle of Snake Oil next.

The adult population of the US is somewhere between 270,000,000 and 276,000,000. Even at the lower figure that’s $1,350,000,000,000, just shy of 20% of the federal government’s annual budget.

It’s obvious to anyone with two brain cells that there is no chance of this happening. Unfortunately the existence of a highly profitable lottery and gambling industry proves that plenty of people will fall for it anyway.

Two things jump out at me from this. First, I’m not sure if there’s anything anyone could do about it legally, in the wake of the Trump v USA ruling; but I’m not a US public lawyer, and don’t know.

The other thing is even more sinister. If the GOP doesn’t win both houses, then there’s going to be at least some MAGA hotheads who point to Dems, and to Dem voters, and say something along the lines of “Look who doesn’t want you to have $5000!”

Actually, they would probably begin that before the elections.

That’s not incitement to violence, but it’s also not a million miles from it.
