“He stole my rattle!”

Stalinism MAGA-style.

The Justice Department has secured a new indictment of James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, over a social media post, after a past indictment effort spurred by President Trump last year ended in failure, according to people familiar with the investigation.

The new case represents another twist in the department’s tortured efforts to satisfy the demands of Mr. Trump to pursue criminal charges against Mr. Comey, a longtime target of the president’s wrath. The first indictment against Mr. Comey was thrown out by a judge.

The new one is about the seashells that spelled out 86 84 blah blah blah next it will be he stole Trump’s brand new red wagon.

By the way, of these two guys, Trump is the convicted felon.

I mean, I still blame Comey for the words “President Trump” actually being a thing in the first place. He doesn’t bear sole responsibility, of course, but I firmly believe that he was hoping to create a weak President Hillary Clinton, one who would have no shirttail and thus would have to face a GOP-dominated Congress. Instead, his violation of decades of protocol is one of the factors tipping the 2016 election in Trump’s favor.

So him having to face a constant barrage of abuse from the monster he helped create is something I’m willing to not be too concerned about for now. Every moment Trump is scheming against Comey is one he’s not thinking about screwing over the rest of the country.

Of course legal system that can be weaponized against people you don’t like can also be weaponized against you…

Freemage: A replay of Frankenstein’s Monster, so ably portrayed by Boris Karloff in the film based on Mary Shelley’s classic novel.

Donald Frankenstein perhaps? Seems to fit.

Bjarte Foshaug: Oh, I grant that, yes. I don’t like that he’s doing it to anyone. But we’re not getting around that until at least the November elections. At that point, I’ll happily sign onto any effort to close all the loopholes the bastard has been exploiting. But between now and then, I’m just less concerned about attacks on former allies than I am when he targets actual opponents or his preferred victims.

And yes, Omar, that’s the exact analogy I’m going for. A lot of life-long Republicans, understanding that they are tarnished by this episode, want to claim that Trump was some sort of barbarian who stormed the gate and took over the GOP. Nope, he was absolutely put together in the Republicans’ dungeon–he’s the Southern Strategy, the hypocrisy of the Religious Right, the Greed is Good contingent, all of it. He just has none of the folksy charm of Reagan or Bush I (or even II), and he’s more vulgar about it than even Nixon.
