Musk increasingly angry

Musk is angry.

Elon Musk—showing increasing anger over allegations the dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development by his short-lived Department of Government Efficiency had fatal consequences—lashed out at critics on the social platform he owns, even as a number of studies support those claims.

Musk, in a post on X on Sunday, claimed those who say DOGE’s USAID cuts resulted in deaths “cannot cite a single name of someone who died out of the ‘millions’ they falsely claim have died. Not a single name!”

They probably can’t describe what clothes they were wearing, either, but how does that change anything?

New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, who last year identified specific people he says died after USAID-backed services were disrupted, quickly responded with the names of four he said died because of the cuts, including an 8-year-old girl, and suggested the world’s richest person travel to Africa with him to “talk to these moms and dads, and you’ll see the dying children themselves.”

But he doesn’t want to see them, he wants to keep saying they don’t exist.

Musk has disputed claims the USAID cuts caused deaths multiple times over the last year: In March 2025, Musk argued “no one has died as a result of a brief pause to do a sanity check on foreign aid funding”…

So he knows for sure that no one has died as a result of what he says is a brief pause in funding for food programs?

I really really really doubt that he knows that.

When is the “brief pause” over? Who is doing the evaluation of the foreign aid programs to see what programs should resume or be implemented instead?

He likely confirmed that by asking that chainsaw of his if anyone had died, only to have it reply:

    NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR.!!!!!!!”

    I found this at factually:

“What can be stated with confidence from the available reporting?”

“It can be confidently stated that several independent modelling efforts and trackers attribute hundreds of thousands of excess deaths worldwide to the USAID funding pause and subsequent DOGE-driven cuts, and that a large share of those projected deaths are among children according to those models and advocacy summaries…”

Is Musk angry because people are dying because of his actions, or because it’s not being kept quiet? I think a trillionaire could fix the situation of people dying quite easily, but the greedy stupid shit just wants people to shut up about it. The vast majority of his wealth comes from US taxpayers, but he’s a dreadful steward of that wealth, in fact his underpayments to charity are unlawfully low. Fecking vermin.

Some three millenia ago, Plato had Musk’s number. In Plato’s “Gorgias,” Socrates likened insatiable greed to a leaky jug: No matter how much water one pours into it, it will demand more. Someone consumed with unquenchable desires comes to love himself far beyond what he can feel for the rest of humanity. He was, for Plato, “a poor judge of what is just and good and noble,” because he would always treat his desires as more valuable even than the truth. As a consequence, Plato wrote, “it is impossible that those who become very rich also become good.”

Plato’s solution, outlined in the “Laws,” was for someone with four times the wealth of the poorest citizen to donate the surplus to the state. Musk is currently at about 5 million times the wealth of the average citizen. Yet I can’t think of a single philanthropic project he’s done. At least the old Robber Barons used to compete in that regard. Musk is nothing but a parasite sucking up society’s resources and preventing them from being spent on the general welfare.

Did anyone else hear echoes of Dr. David Banner? “Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”

    Argh! Musk Smash!!

Maybe he will get exposed to a gamma ray overdose during a failed SpaceX launch…

For some reason people don’t seem to mean him and Charlize Theron when they use the term “African American”. Can someone explain why they don’t? They, together with Ilhan Omar and Ayaan Hirsi Ali, are the only African Americans that I can immediately think of.

Probably a ketamine overdose, Papito. ;)

Probably because of apartheid Athel, they don’t identify as African. African carrys connotations of brown skinness. They know whose land it is, despite their (very modern) colonialist racism. Musk’s father was only there to exploit the resources in SA, including the human ones.

“African-American” was coined as a “polite” alternative to words that had become pejorative: “colored”, “Negro”, “Black”, and others. There are a host of problems with the term, but it did attain widespread use in the US, to the point that Americans would sometimes use it to refer to dark-skinned people worldwide, including non-Americans. It’s a silly euphemism, but one among many. In the euphemistic use, it did not apply, the way “Asian-American” or “French-American” might, to someone who emigrated from their place of origin to the US; it was specifically a reference to descendants of former slaves, or perhaps to Black Americans in general, regardless of place of family origin.

Oh I don’t think “silly euphemism” is fair. I think there’s a lot more to it than that. It’s about pride, for want of a better word. It’s about having a history, and ancestors, and roots. All that had been taken away.

Also, African-Americans are the very last people motivated to come up with euphemisms for what was done to them. It’s the Euro-Americans who do that.
