I think the likely worst case is he tries to shut down all investigations. I don’t think that’s quite a coup, but I could see how one could argue it effectively is since he’s making himself above the law.
I don’t think elections are going to be cancelled. I don’t think Trump is going try to become President for Life.
Just getting the House is a massive check on him, as they can conduct investigations with subpoena power.
Every indication is that Robert Mueller is a smart person and will have plans for every contingency, so if there is evidence of clear criminal conduct Trump will likely not be able to suppress it. If there is solid proof of serious crimes and the House impeaches but the Senate fails to remove (and they might not), then Trump’s going to be out in 2020 and the Senate will flip.

I do not share your optimism. Trump’s horribleness has been on open display for years, and this election was far from a repudiation of his administration. If the massive tax fraud of the Trump family documented in the NYT can have as little effect as it has, why would voters punish senators’ failure to remove him? It’s clear that, in some circles, they will be viewed as heroes standing up against liberal/commie/antifa/etc fake news.

#5 Rioting will have little affect. In my state, NM, democrats overwhelmingly surpassed GOP candidates. The best strategy is to educate people, be polite, patient, and condemn religion for what it is: an ancient man made ideology invented to oppress women, minorities and homosexuals. Eliminate religion from the American landscape and monumental changes will come.
